So after a few nice telephone exchanges, it was time for us to finally meet. Just from talking to him on the phone I knew I was interested in getting to know him better. He gave GREAT phone..
So we decided to meet at Cafe Mogador which is a place that you would ordinarily find me for brunch on a Saturday, but figured it would be cool to meet there one evening for tea and apertifs. I as per usual was on time and I had to wait. Can I just say how much I distaste waiting for people, especially men. That means that you don't value my time or you just don't plan well. Which ever was the case, I texted him to let him know I was there...i.e. hurry the hell up!
So he gets there, and he was kinda cute. Not hot ( He is asian after not-NO Offense) But was totally sweet and cute. We go inside and get a seat. He and I both order some apertifs and a pot of their amazing morrocan tea. We shared everything and the dinner options were just as lovely as the brunch options for sure.
So we talked about how our days were. I met him on Match.com and so I was curious to find out if he thought I looked the same. He looked the same to me. And he said I did too. I can't really rememeber what all we spoke about at the restaurant but as were leaving he wanted to get ice cream. So we go to the Australian ice cream and candies shop a couple stores down and get some. I wasn't a huge fan of that type of ice cream and wasn't able to finish mine.
So we walked around for a while with our dessert when I told him that I should get going. He offered to give me a ride home, which I was reluctant to do at first, but gave in because I was wearing heels. We walked to his car ( he drove a lexus) and we actually ended up just sitting in there and talking more until he revealed to me that he use to be a singer! I was totally shocked and I don't think I have ever heard an asian person who had the ability to sing well. I was curious naturally so I asked him to sing a little something.
With a bit of hesitation he gave him. He put in a CD of Bryan Mcknight for him to sing along to. It started a little rough but as he progressed into the song, I was really surprised but in a good way. This dude was actually singing and singing quite well! I didnt want him to stop so he sang a couple more notes of some other songs too. His voice is very R&B/soul and he use to not only sing but he wrote and produced his own music along with his younger brother who is also a great singer.
So after singing in the car for almost an HOUR, he drives me home. We hug good night and I went inside my building. All in all, is was a nice date. I don't know if it was a love match per se, but definitely someone to be intrigued by for sure.
