We met a couple of months ago. He wrote to me and asked if he could take me to Gyu Kaku which is one of my favorite places to eat in NYC. Of course I would never turn down a free meal even if its not at a super swanky overly priced restaurant. It was pouring down rain and when I arrived he was already there out front waiting ever so patiently.
He was VERY well dressed and had a beautiful smile. He was tall with a slim built (mmm my favorite), and spoke with a british accent. Once we were seated he thanked me for coming out to have dinner with him. This guy has got to be one of the, if not, the most polite creatures I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. We ordered some plum wine and my usual favorite dishes from the menu to share. He really liked the food..not surprising because everyone does.
We spoke about his native India and his family and how he grew up. He also told me about his business. He owns two Japanese hair salons as well as a mobile phone store in New Jersey. He describes himself as a Slumdog millionaire..lol although his story is different, it was still very fascinating. He was very smart, charming and not at all what I was expecting oh and get this..He Also doesn't like Indian food just like me.
So the evening was winding down and I double booked yet again and needed to get going. Not long before we were going to leave he gave me a bag which contained a bottle of sake he bought for me as a gift. I was like OMG no one has ever given me a gift on a first date or even the first time meeting! I must say I was impressed which isnt easy to do. It was such a lovely gesture and he expressed interest in hanging out again to which I accepted of course.
We leave Gyu Kaku and with a bit of trouble due to bad weather he manages to wrangle a cab for me. We hug goodbye and and go our seperate ways.

The Water Guy
This was a chance meeting for the two of us. It was via Eharmony and he was the 1st person to contact me and I was the last person he reached out to. He took it as some sort of sign. On a snowy evening we decided to meet at Enoteca in the LES. This was right after my date with the Architect (Yes I double booked) So we meet inside but we couldn’t get a table. He for some reason didn’t think to make a reservation at a known to be busy spot in the area, so we left and went to Allen and Delancey instead. He was pretty touchy feely for my taste right off by putting his hand on my lower back as I walked inside and grabbing my waist as we walked side by side. He was sweet though and smiled quite a bit. Totally harmless type of dude I felt. We tried a couple different types of wine and he told me that he works as an engineer for a company that makes some pretty popular water brands. He also told me that lives and owns a condo not far from the place we were at. I must admit I was intrigued but not so sure if I was attracted to him. He was short, a bit stocky, and had a shit load of tattoos and long hair. It was a lot of look for an Asian guy. Yea I’m still on the Asians. Anyway, this was just our first date but something told me not to write him off too quickly. Perhaps he could become a really fun friend to have. A love match no, but definitely someone I wouldn’t mind hanging out with. He was funny, rather charming and I could tell he was attracted. His smile actually reminded me of that girl Ruthie from The Real World Hawaii. You know the girl who was a drunk but had that big toothy grin that made her adorable. I wonder if she was Philipino like this guy..Anyway, More to come on him..Stay tuned.

The Michael Phelps lookalike
So I met this guy a few months ago on Match.com. We exchanged a few emails and set up a date to meet for drinks. It was a friday night and we agreed to meet at this spot in Soho. I can't remember what it was called. I arrived on time like I usually do, but he was late. I wasn't impressed by this or the place we went to. I walked in and it was more bar than lounge and for a girl who isn't a big drinker, this scene didn't appeal to me, but I put on a smile and stayed positive. I was excited to meet him because he seemed like a very interesting person.
After waiting almost 20 minutes he showed up and was apologetic about making me wait. Then he offered me a drink. I got a glass of Reisling and he had a beer. Why do guys like beer so much? I mean does it really taste THAT good? It smells like wet dirt! Anyway, we talked about family and work, and he had a pretty cool job. He worked in the aviation industry and sold and rented jets to large corporations...I think that's what I gathered..lol. It sounds like he loved his job. He was planning to go to Turkey for business in a week and he was telling me about the country since he has been there a couple of time for work.
Physically he had some nice attributes: He was tall, had gorgeous blue eyes, lean build, and nice thick brown hair BUT there was one thing. This one thing is something that I have never been able to overlook when it comes to guys. To some, its probably just a minor thing but for me its SORT of a deal breaker and that was his offensive teeth. I mean they were huge and going in all different directions. I can't imagine it being fun to make out with someone with a set of fangs like that! Hence the name Michael Phelps lookalike. I tried not to stare...not too sure how successful I was at that.
So through the 2 hours of our date I felt comfortable and he seemed to be attracted to me. So he told me that he would give me a call when he gets back from Turkey and hang out again. I thought that would be cool even though I knew I wasn't interested in him as more than a friend, so I told him that it would be fine for him to call me.
Fast forward to present day. Haven't heard or seen him since. Whatevs.

The Old Dude
So this guy was yet another brilliant CL find. Lovely older gentleman, divorced with a teenager daughter. At first, and don't judge me, I was thinking that he would make quite the Sugar Daddy..Life in NY is expensive, but after meeting him and getting to know him over dinner I quickly realized that I could never be that girl and he certainly wasn't looking for any type of "arrangement".
We went to a lovely french spot called fluer du Sel after meeting up for a few drinks at Tabla. I took a cab over but the cab didnt accept credit cards and I didnt have any cash on me. I didnt know what to do so I proceeded to try and convince the driver to turn on his meter again. Apparently if you take too long to swipe your card, it shuts down..Such BS..Anyway, I was sitting in the parked cab across the street from Tabla for about 10 minutes when The old dude called me. I was a little embarassed to let him know what was going on, but he said don't worry about it and quickly came to my rescuse.
The significance in age was nothing to be ignored and I noticed that people were probably wondering what this young girl was doing with this older man. But It didn't bother me and he didn't seem to notice either. He was a perfect gentleman and dressed nicely too. We chatted about our family, and work, etc. He was a lawyer for 30 years..longer than I've been alive, but whatever, and now he works as a CEO at some publishing company which he says is much more fullfilling than being an attorney. He seemed fascinated, like most men are, with what I do for a living and asked the typical questions like " Are all male models gay?" yada yada yada. Of course not, and I quickly gave him a very realistic view of the industry.
Dinner was fabulous and the restaurant was lovely. We shared some wine, and had a few laughs and he told me that he wants to go out with me again. We left the restaurant and was greeted by a huge gust of super cold wind that nearly knocked me over. It was effing freezing outside. We walked to the next corner and we got a cab together. I was planning to go home and I had no intention of inviting him in. He put his hand on my knee which was a bit uncomfortable but I figured it could be worse. He could be trying to make out with me, and I'll have to run as fast as I could. We stopped at my street and we BOTH exited the car. I'm thinking, OMG, he really thinks he going home with me so I said " thank you, I had a great time. Have a good night."
Poor guy, I left him there on the street to find another cab. He shouldnt have been so presumptuous and should have stayed in the cab and gone home.
He emailed me the next day asking for another date. I said sure, but never followed up..oops

Suitor Poll
The Poll ended obviously and I'm sure some of you are wondering what happened to them.
Well I'm not seeing any of them anymore.
The investment banker became too sleezy and gross
The European Doctor wanted more than what I was willing to give him
The Beautiful asian didnt want to give me what I wanted from him..loser
The Bulgarian wanted a relationship right away and became just a tad too pushy about it

The Architect
So I met this dude whilst roaming the personal Ad's on Craigslist. I needed something to write about so here goes. This dude had a couple of things going for him...I had Just stopped seeing the beautiful asian and as we all know, I love to replace men with other men who remind me of my former man...not wise, but it helps me. So he was asian, but lived in Brooklyn. I of course would never subject myself to an outer borough experience just to meet a guy so I suggested that we meet at Max Brenner's in the East Village for cocoa.
He was late...not cute
And neither was he for that matter. not ugly, but was in no rush to jump his bones either. He was nice enough and smart and loved chocolate just as much as I did, possibly more. So he told me about the projects he was working on and I talked about what I did. You know normal 1st date banter blah blah blah.
Things began to wind down and he seemed really interested. He asked for a second date. OH I forgot to tell you, in his Ad that he posted he stated that he was only interested in meeting asian or caucasian women. So I was actually surprised when I realized I had convinced this dude to broaden his racial horizons and go on a date with a little brown girl. Men can be so close minded, but It was refreshing that he took that chance and not only met with me, but wanted to go out again.
So it was about 7 or 8, and I told him I needed to go because I had to meet a friend. I actually had another date. Yes I double booked. So he paid and we walked outside and to my great surprise it was snowing! Everyone knows how much I love snow and I thought about actually walking in heels to my 2nd date, but he got me a cab instead.
We hugged and said goodnight and I was off to meet eligible asian number 2...

And She's BACK!
Sorry guys for the long hiatus. I wish I could tell you that I met and fell in love with the man of my dreams, but to be perfectly honest, I was just being a lazy ass. BUT don't fret, I was still dating the entire time so with great excitement and nagging from friends Suze and Danny, I will be filling you in and updating you on where I've been and with whom.
